EXCERPTED FROM SPRING EDITION (2013) OF THE CAMPION CHAMPION:
Varsity Boys Lacrosse will once again become part of the stable of spring sports available to Campion students in the second semester of the 2013/14 school year. With Mr. Nahirniak at the helm as head coach and with him, virtually the entire Varsity Boys Football Teams’ coaching staff (Ocampo, Bianchi, Ruscica and Laezza), the season looks very promising and the school hopes to meet with some very early success. Last year, the team did not run a squad, but with pressure from a number of interested students, Campion looks to enter a competitive team into the upcoming ROPSSAA spring season. Apparently, there are a number of strong Lacrosse players who compete at a high level of play among our student body and the coaches hope to capitalize on this and provide these kids with an opportunity to compete for their school. They will round out their roster with other athletes who may not be as familiar with the sport itself but do play other contact sports (ie. Hockey, football) and are not afraid of the physical nature of the game. Campion is no stranger to the sport and actually won a Tier II Championship in 2010! Please see Coach Nahirniak for more information regarding team meetings and the upcoming season, or follow us on twitter @Campionlacrosse or on the school website: http://www.dpcdsb.org/CAMPI/Students/Athletics/Lacrosse/
